Situated in the beautiful Dalkeith Country Park is the Restoration Yard, a restored 18th century stableyard.
Salamander Design was appointed to help reimagine the Restoration Yard café space that the client had out grown.
Through extensive research and design development we reimagined a space double the size, fit for purpose and inspired by the family’s beautiful estates.
The selected materials create a contemporary heritage feel, connecting the space to its surroundings, while being suitable for modern day purpose.
Connections to the family estates include, a Versailles style parquet to mirror the flooring in the state rooms of Boughton House, cane furniture as a nod to the Louis 15th chairs (seen through many of the homes) and bespoke joinery which seamlessly blends traditional and contemporary detailing.
A four metre high, live tree creates the centre piece, connecting the interior space to the surrounding park.
The transformation of this space is not only visual but has allowed the client to maximise their hospitality operation.
